I had a name change and need help with my new student email address

New student email address after a name change.

After a name change you will also be given a new student email address.

You should log in to your new student email address right away as this is where the school will be contacting you.

What's my new email address?

Your Gwinnett Tech student email address is based on your name.

FLLLLLLxxxx@student.gwinnetttech.edu (first initial, up to 6 characters in last name, last 4 of student ID number)

When logging in for the first time be sure you have typed your student email correctly and it is all lowercase letters.

What is my new password?

When you log in for the first time your password is gtc and your 6-digit date of birth. Example: gtcmmddyy

If your date of birth is 07/04/2021,

your password would be gtc070421.

Try logging in with your new email address.

Start using your new email address

Go to https://gwinnetttech.edu/dashboard/ and click on the log in button.

Going forward you should start using your new email address as this is the email address associated with your student ID number. Messages from the school, including those from Blackboard, are being sent there. There will be messages waiting for you at your new address.

All school accounts connected to your student ID will transition to the new address automatically. We do not delete the old email in case you need to reference any of the old messages, but you will not get any new messages there.

Forward your email

Once you get logged in to your new email address, it is recommended to forward the old address to the new address just to be sure you don't miss any messages.

Follow the directions below or contact Student Tech Support for help.

1) log in to the student dashboard with your old email

Go to https://gwinnetttech.edu/dashboard/ and click on the dashboard button to log in to your old email address.

2) click on the outlook icon

3) click the settings icon on the upper right

4) click view all Outlook Settings near the bottom of the page

5) click forwarding

6) click enable forwarding

7) enter your new email address

8) click keep a copy of forwarded messages

9) click save and then close the settings menu

After that all messages that come to your old email will be sent to your new email.
