Can someone else make a request?

Unless there is a consent to disclose form on file, only the student has access to their records.

Because access to the student dashboard will also grant access to student records through banner, this applies to requests for a password change or updating multifactor authentication options also.

FERPA

FERPA, Federal Education Right to Privacy Act that protects the academic record of students. Colleges and Universities are not allowed to share information about a student’s academic record without express permission.

All students are protected by FERPA (Family Education Rights and Privacy Act), regardless of the age of the student. Once a student begins classes, Gwinnett Technical College is only able to speak with the student regarding admissions, schedules, grades, etc. unless there is a FERPA release form on file with the college.

Consent to Disclose

Consent to Disclose, Students may give Gwinnett Tech consent to disclose information related to their student record by submitting a consent to disclose form. The form gives permission for the institution to speak with a designee about topics approved by the student.
