Text message scam targeting Gwinnett Tech students

SCAM ALERT
Never share your MFA verification code with anyone

Your Gwinnett Tech student account has multifactor authentication enabled in the form of a code sent by text message or through the OKTA verify app. In the screenshot below, the scammer is impersonating someone from the school and asking for a verification code.

Never share your MFA verification code with anyone.

No one from the school will ask you for you MFA verification code. This is a sure sign of a scam. Do not respond to messages like these, we recommend using the spam feature on your phone to block the number.

No one from the school will ever ask you for your password or MFA verification code. Never tell anyone this information.


Not expecting that verification code? Change your password

If you get a verification code you were not expecting, it means someone knows your password and is trying to log into your account. Change your password if this happens, call the student help desk if you need assistance.
