How to Install Microsoft Office 365 on a Mac (For Gwinnett Tech Students)
Microsoft Office 365 is free for all Gwinnett Tech students! You can install it on up to 5 devices, including your Mac. Follow the steps below to install Office 365 on your Mac.
Please be sure to use one of our supported browser such as Google Chrome or Firefox browser. Safari is not a supported browser, you may encounter errors with that browser.

Step 1
Go to https://gwinnetttech.edu/dashboard/ and click the login button.
Step 2
Click the 'Office 365' link on the dashboard.
Step 3
You will be redirected to the Microsoft 365 portal. Click the 'Apps' icon on the left sidebar.
Step 4
Click the 'Install Apps' button in the upper right corner.
Step 5
From the dropdown, select 'Office 365 apps' to begin downloading the Office installer for Mac.
Step 6
Once the download is complete, open the .pkg file and follow the on-screen instructions to install Office.
Step 7
During installation, you may be prompted to allow changes. Enter your Mac password and click 'OK' to proceed.
Step 8
After installation, open any Office app (e.g., Word). Click 'Sign In' and enter your Gwinnett Tech student email.
Step 9
You will be redirected to the OKTA login screen. Enter your Gwinnett Tech email and password, then click 'Sign In'.
Step 10
Your Office 365 installation is now complete and linked to your student account.
Troubleshooting
If you're signed in with a different email address, you may encounter licensing issues. Sign out of any other accounts and sign in with your Gwinnett Tech student email.

The version of Office 365 available to active students
includes:
- Outlook
- Microsoft Word
- Microsoft Excel
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Microsoft OneNote
- Teams
- OneDrive
Note: Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Access are not available on Mac.
Note for Chromebook Users
Microsoft has discontinued Office apps for Chromebooks. Use the web version at Office.com instead.
